Britney Spears’ Younger Sister Pregnant
Britney Spears’ 16-year old sister, Jamie Lynn, is pregnant. She announced the news earlier this week while saying that it’s best not to have sex before you’re married.

The news was a shock for her parents. “She’s the responsible one,” her mother, Lynn, told reporters.
Well, perhaps she’ll be a very responsible teenage mother, compared to her sister at least.
Not only was it a big shock to Lynn Spears, a book publisher was in shock as well: Lynn Spears has written a book on parenting. A Christian publisher would publish the book, but after the news broke that Lynn’s youngest daughter is pregnant, they called off the deal “indefinitely.”

Oh boy, are we about to be visited by an avalanch of teenyboppers? They’re even scarier than the Paulites! Then again, they might learn something while here.
The fact that before her other daughter got pregnant, Lynn Spears was going to author a parenting book, considering how her elder daughter turned out, is laughable. So it was fine that she brought up a drinking, druggin, inplanting, exibitionist reckless young mother, but two, that’s going too far! Anyone who takes this womans advice on raising kids is in need of serious help.
Destiny, in the last century, 16 would not be such a strange age to be a mother, but right now, it’s NOT a good thing. I don’t know how old you are, but think that Jamie is 16. She’s not even out of High School yet. She owes it to herself and to any child she has to get an education and mature mentally before she becomes a mother. A baby is not a toy or a cute pet, being a parent is a full time dedication, quite possibly the biggest and most important job any person can ever do. You MUST be ready for it, ready to have a job, to give it a home, to forget about partying. What about the father? Do you think a 16 year old knows who she wants to be with when she’s 80? A baby deserves a father, and she should have thought about whether this guy was going to be there for his child before she went off and had sex without protection. It’s not a game, it’s not funny, it’s tragic, most especially for the baby.

Even before this, the idea of a parenting book by Brittney Spears’ mother is ludicrous. What next? Marriage advice from Rudi Giuliani or Donald Trump?
I’m not sure if the report I heard was accurate, but it was said that the girls’ mom sold the rights to the story about Jaime’s pregnancy, and the right to photos, for a nice sum. There’s something creepy about all ’stage parent’ types who encourage their kids to go into the entertainment industry anyway, but this particular mother takes the cake- she almost seems to pimp out her kids.

Well of course, girls are sluts if they have sex too young, but boys are macho if they do it at the same age. This double standard is nothing new. It’s disgusting, but not new.
I don’t think that I can call this girl a slut solely because she had sex at 16. I don’t that’s slutty at all. What I CAN say is that she has horrible judgment to have sex without protection at that age, or indeed at any point in your life that you aren’t ready to be a parent. I won’t criticize her deciding to stay pregnant because that’s a very personal decision I believe no one can make for another person.

I think that it is sad that we live in a country where it’s OKAY to be pregnant at 16! She is on a show for kids, what kind of message does that send? She will have a long road ahead; I think that a 16 year old girl should have to worry about prom not day care. So many teens these days (both boys and girls) forget when they want to have a night of fun, that it may turn into more than that. A new poll shows that almost 90% of teens said they would not have sex if they had a parent they could speak openly to.
We have taken all the blame away from the parents for underage sex, drinking and drugs. Parents have to realize that children start younger now, so so should the talk about the "birds and bees". To those posts that say "It’s okay because she is keeping it". It’s not always okay! I am very strong for pro-life and would never suggest that someone "fixes" the problem. Girls and boys (that’s what they are at 16, not men and woman) need to think ahead when making choices in life! Not just the fun they will have for the next 5 minutes!

Lynx, Christine et al: I agree. It’s hypocritical. And having sex when you’re 16 doesn’t make you a slut. Having sex with everyone who wants to, basically, makes one a ’slut. Someone who has sex with the person he or she loves / is in love with is per definition not a slut.
Having said that, they have been very uncareful and now have to live with the consequences. I read that they might think about getting married: that should not be ‘might’ that should be ‘will.’
She can still be the ‘responsible’ one if she handles this well.
Other than that, I read that the boy, who’s 19, can theoretically be arrested for having sex with Jamie Lynn. If we’re talking ridiculous, that is ridiculous. There should be a rule: no sex with underaged people allowed, unless the age difference is three years or less (or something).

Well said also! I studed criminal justice and he can be held responsible for what he has done. When someone is under 17 and there is a 3 year age difference, it’s called rape! The law (and everyone else should) respects that girls/boys under 17 are not mature enough to make these choices. I remember 16, all I could think of was who was proms and friends. Not who was I going to get busy with in the backseat.
Jamie’s parents should be assamed that there two daughters have turned out this way. When our parents were brought up, it wasn’t a matter of "IF" you were going to get married, it was "WHEN". My dad would have been so disappointed on me at that age. Daughters use to want to make there parents proud, now it’s all about making your "man happy". Unknown Adventure "Woman", sure I’ll answer them. I don’t have to, but seeing as there seem to be quite some young teens here, I think it’s a good idea.
I was 17 when I lost my virginity, and I did so with a boyfriend that I loved and who loved me. I used protection because:
a- I knew that I was WAY too young to be a mother.
b- Me and my boyfriend loved each other, but knew that a baby brings life long responsibilities, and certainly knew we weren’t ready for marriage.
c- My boyfriend was a virgin as well, and though I trusted him, I also know that an STD is always a possibility, and it’s better to be safe than DEAD.
Obviously my boyfriend had the same opinion of the matter. We are now good friends, and I’m guessing he will marry his current girlfriend.
Look, I know that things get awfully emotional at that age, and you feel like it will last forever. It won’t. Being a teenager is gone in a flash, and all those things that seemed so important will seem as childish to you as the dollies you’ve hidden deep inside your closet now that you’re an "adult". ALMOST all the mistakes and silly things one does as a teen pass without much consequence. But there are some things that last forever: Dropping out of school, getting an STD, having a baby.
Sure with a lot of support and a good dose of responsibility, having a baby that early need not be the worst thing you’ve ever done. But it IS a mistake, a 16 year old GIRL is not ready to be a fully responsible mother, and Jamie sets a TERRIBLE example to girls who might get in in their heads that a baby is no big deal.
LOL, I don’t know if you plan to be a mother one day, Lynx, but you’ll make a fine one. Kudos for answering VERY personal questions in order to use the situation as a teachable moment.

A girl who has as much/the kinds of sex for her own reasons only cannot be slutty. She can be self-destructive, careless, promiscuous and maybe show a lack of priorities and foresight, but she cannot be slutty.

It’s so easy to judge a person when one hasn’t been there. Jamie Lynn is a young girl who made a very stupid decision & is now going to suffer the consequences. I am 22-years-old with an almost 5-year-old. Now, if you’re any good at basic math, it’s easy to see that I got pregnant at 16. I was with someone whom, at the time, I thought I was in love with. Becoming a parent that young was a HUGE adjustment for me. Life as I knew it was over. I had no clue how I was going to raise a child, when I was just a child myself! You wouldn’t believe all of the crap I got for getting pregnant at such a young age. I was called a ’slut’ and a ‘whore’ when in fact, Bailey’s Dad was the first guy I’d ever been with. I was so naive! I thought that because he didn’t ‘penetrate’ that I would be okay. WRONG. It was a mistake on my part, and one that I paid the price for. Luckily I had parents who were well-off enough to help me out financially, and were also there for me emotionally. Now, 5 years later, Im a college grad, married, and in a job that I love. My child is a happy, healthy 5-year-old. I have always put her needs before my own, and while it wasn’t easy seeing my friends go out on the weekends without a care in the world while I was stuck at home with a baby, I realize I was one of the lucky ones. I had the support (and the determination) to make something of myself and not let my little ‘ooopsie’ ruin my life. Getting pregnant at 16 was not the worst thing that has happened to me, but I realize that not every young girl has the support and love that I had and I do NOT at all recommend going out and getting knocked up at such a young age. She IS too young to become a Mother, but I honestly believe she will be fine.

what i dont get is how can anyone call a girl a slut just for getting pregnant when the true definition of a slut is someone who sleeps around using or not using protection but truly someone whos goes around with every guy regardless if they get pregnant or not… now for saying that jamie lynn used or did not use protection is another thing.. nobody knows except her and her boyfriend… we cant just assume that she got preganant by not using protection… condoms arents 100 percent effective and neither is any other method… the only way u can get close to 100 percent effective (or not even 100 more like 99.9) is by trying to use it as well and accurate as u can… other than that everythign happens for a reason regardless… but either way thats just my opinion

Danii, good for you for taking on that huge responsibility and also for telling the story. Plenty of young girls would benefit greatly from hearing it. I think maybe the thing that is hardest for girls to understand is how being a mother, a good mother, transforms your life utterly, that the carefree attitude of youth is gone in a flash. Also, a young girl will believe the pretty words of a boy she loves, and he might even mean them, but it’s all too often that he hightails it out of there the minute the pregnancy test comes back positive. It’s a shame that girls get so much crap for making the mistake of getting pregnant way too early while boys get off almost completely for impregnating girls and then leaving them.
Congratulations on having fought the good fight to give yourself and your son a good life, despite early errors.

hey well i think that its okay to have a baby at a young age well not really as long as you know what you in for you know well i am 17 years old i had a baby when i was 16 years old and it is a lots of work i had to drop out of school and take care of my baby and being pregnant isnt easy either its really hard work as long as you now its hard hard work but i guess thats not going to be a problem being rich and all i had to do it all my my self but yeah thats all be care ful girls and boys

There’s no way anyone on here knows a lick about the Spears’ family. Sure, you’ve seen all the stupid media-covered crap about stuff that goes on. But no one really has an idea. You can have an opinion about the situation, but in reality you can never know for sure unless you are actually IN the Spears’ family. You don’t know what went down when her and that guy had sex, or what Britney did for that matter.
I think people need to stop obsessing over celebrities’ lives. Just a wee bit pathetic. I got my own life to worry about and I’m sure you do too. Ok, maybe Jamie Lynn made some bad judgment on situations and you’re going on and on about how she’s 16. And that’s the point! She’s sixteen! She made a mistake because she’s only a decade and a half old!! Everyone makes mistakes, especially when they’re young. I’m very suprised at her. I wonder why she did it. Iguess it was her choice but still. Hopefully her boyfriend is still supporting her because if not, he is a bitch.

It’s sad because she herself is a "KID". I think its so dumb that teeangers just have SEX and dont think of what can happened (getting STD’s & getting Pregnant) maybe they should do some research & get informed as it is teenagers already have a bad rep.
I think that Jamie Lynn is doing the right thing by keeping the baby; abortion is killing a poor innocent chilled when they never had a chance in this world and as a teen girl giving up their first baby can cause many emotions. I’m not for teen pregnancy but it’s hard to stop it, I know 2 girls in my grade that are pregnant and I’m only in 9th grade. Jamie Lynn obviously loves her boy friend and when she had sex with him, she obviously knew the consequences. She has her sister who has had two kids and she has seen her sister go through a lot of crap over the year so she know having a kid wont be easy but she is willing to take the chance of messing up, because come on, don’t hide it everyone messes up and no one is perfect no matter how hard you try to be. She might just want someone to hold and love and to love her back because maybe everyone else in her family is to tied up with Britt and all the drama going on in her life, do you really blame her? Sure it’s a stupid decision considering you have your whole life ahead of you but she has probably considered what to do with the baby and she finds keeping it is the best decision and I support her for wanting to take on a motherly role at such a young age. She might not be the best role model for regular teenage girls who don’t get pregnant at a young age, but for the other teenage girls that do, she might help them get through it easily. Some times seeing some one famous going through something you didn’t mean to do or something you did not expect to happen makes you realize you are not the only one that made that mistake. It might be comforting to some teenage girls that are pregnant to see a celebrity going through the same thing around the same age. You never know what’s going to happen till you see it happen and I don’t feel Jamie will be a bad mother. Good luck to you Jamie.

Look People where i live there are young girl about the age of 12 years and up getting pregnant everyday. It’s nothing new. And who says she’s a bad example? Maybe she can get up there and show young girls that its way harder than it looks. And waiting is way better. And most of all that getting pregnant can happen to any young teen. I feel for her. I worry about the bad example set by this young star and her sister. I also worry about the fact that so many girls think that what she did is perfectly OK. No she’s not necessarily a slut, that doesn’t make what she did any less stupid.
Incidentally, I also worry about the state of our education system. If the spelling on this thread is any indication, the English teachers of these young girls need some serious reprimands as well.
It is bad example for her Zoey 101 viewers but if she wants this kid and can look after it I supose it is ok really.
this is shocking && dispointing but we can’t go back in time && changed what happened. Its good that she deciding to take care of the baby && yes it no one fault but her && her boyfriend [don't forget] — she is setting a bad example for children but hopefully parents are explaining to their kids not to do that &+ i think whats going through some of their heads is "man am glad that wasn’t me" [for the kids that are having sex] && for the ones who are their not gonna be like lets go out && have sex to be like jamie lynn spears. idk just i hope she doesn’t do anything stupid to hurt the baby.

I had a baby in highschool, and I made it, its not impossible especaillyif she has support, which Im sure she does, Lynn ’s not a bad parent these things happen, making a choice to wait til marrage is just that, its your choice, she choose the other choice, so what? Its her choice and thats nobodys buisness but her’s, just because she’s a role model doesnt mean she choose to be many young girls look up to her, that doesnt mean they are all going to go out and get pregnant! You make the whole population of girls look like morons!
Parsonally, I think that it’s fine that she’s having a baby and all. And, so what if she’s on Nick. Just think about it, years ago people used to have babies a lot younger, and somehow they managed. Plus numerous people nowadays are having babies at a young age. It’s their choice and that’s that. I say let them do what they want and live with the consequences. That’s all I have to say.
Also, look at it this way, all the actors on Nick have to grow up someday, is not like they are going to be a kid and be on kid shows all their lives. Other kids out there have to realize she is NOT who she plays on the show, she is someone completley different.
