The Democratic candidate for the presidency with the most experience, Bill Richardson, will drop out later today.
One wonders why he was in it in the first place since he didn’t have a chance of winning this thing. What’s more interesting than the news that he’s dropping out – about time I’d say – is who he will endorse. He and Clinton have had a good relationship for years, so it would make a lot of sense for him to endorse her. If this happens, will it help Clinton? I’d say probably yes, at least a bit. It wouldn’t hurt her with Hispanic voters and it would also make her more attractive among anti-war Democrats.

Candidates enter the presidential race for all manner of reasons. Not least of which being each individual feels they can defy the long odds. Consider the case of Mike Huckabee – he was an asterisk not that long ago and is now a contender. As for Hispanic support for Clinton, she already enjoys a huge lead over Obama in this regard. Richardson, despite being Hispanic, never enjoyed a huge amount of support among Latino voters outside New Mexico. Luis Clemens Editor CandidatoUSA.com
apparently he has endorsed no one yet.
Perhaps he doesn’t want to influence the Dem field, perhaps he doesn’t want to offend either Obama or Clinton, or perhaps he finds the rest of the field as wanting.
He may not have endorsed because he’s hoping to be offered the VP spot or another cabinet position. Its a smart thing to do.
