Ben Nelson Endorses Barack Obama

January 12th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

I’m telling you, the Democratic establishment is slowly but surely siding with Barack Obama. Shortly after John Kerry, Ned Lamont, Janet Napolitano and a Republican Governor, Marc Sanford, (all but) endorsed him, Democratic GovernorSenator from Nebraska, Ben Nelson, has decided to do the same:

Nelson, a popular moderate in largely Republican Nebraska, said Obama has “the greatest potential to ending the bitterness and poisonous atmosphere in Washington.” Nelson said Obama’s victory speech in Iowa was an effort to reach out to Democrats, independents and “enlightened Republicans,” and that Obama epitomizes what Nelson has tried to do in Washington. Obama is the “prototype of what we need today,” Nelson said.

It seems that liberal and moderate establishment Democrats and independent voters are rallying around Obama. If he keeps this up, and I don’t see why he wouldn’t, he has a great shot at winning the nomination. The race is still open, but each and every day Obama’s chances improve while Hillary Clinton’s probably ordering some anti-depressives.

As I said earlier today, right now Obama’s the man.

A correction is needed, from your TalkLeft link:

Nebraska U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson plans to make an announcement on Saturday morning that his spokesman said has national implications.

Ben Nelson isn’t the govenor, he’s the most conservative Democratic US Senator. The Nebraska governor (Governor: Dave Heineman (R)) is a Rebublican.

While he might be getting some endorsements hardly is the democratic establishment falling behind him.
