Low Turnout in South Carolina
According to CNN, “[t]hree hours into voting, the South Carolina State Election Commission reports that turnout has been low ‘across the board’ for today’s Republican primary here.”
The reason? It’s… cold. Also: it’s a Saturday. One of the officials rightfully said that the elections are normally held on Tuesdays in this state. On Tuesdays, people quickly go to cast their vote, after which they go to work. On Saturday, however, people have more time.
We’ll see though: it could very well be that the weather prevents many people from voting. The question then becomes: whose supporters are more passionate? Those of Huckabee or those of McCain…
Or Thompson’s (who’s surging it seems)?

If turnout remains low, advantage: Huckabee. Religious zealotry is a good motivator.
Bingo, Jason.
My prediction of a close Huckabee win was wrong- looks like McCain pulls it out. I’m happy to be such a consistently lousy prognosticator… this is good news.
