there is no such thing-islamofascism
That statement is either incorrect or the backwards predilections of what some call Islamofascism instead significantly represent mainstream Islam.

Which is it?

Unfortunately it’s not just the Islamic world. Censorship is very much in force in the Western world, with media perfectly willing to show radical opposition to Christianity and perfectly unwilling to do the same for Islam, for fear of violence.

Very true Claudia. There's a difference: the Islamic world acts out of arrogance, we out of cowardice. Who's worse?

I agree with everything, but would like to add:

Many people are not aware of the degree of cencorship forced on the press in much of the Islamic world.

Radical Islam is abhorrent and contrary to just about everything any normal liberal holds dear.

Makes perfect sense to me in its entirety, DF, particularly in the context of classical liberalism and its subsequent growth. Many of the virtues you describe- personal responsibility, critical thought, freedom of thought, tolerance, and secularism- were rooted in classical liberalism. Given this, I've always been perplexed by the modern left's confusing tendency to embrace intolerance in tolerance's name. In my mind, a bully is a bully- no matter how guised. Clearly you've come to terms with the boundaries of tolerance in the context of radicalism Islam. Ultimately, you stand proud on your secular/liberal values- most admirable.
