Barack Obama and Tony Rezko
The Times (London) has an article up, in which the British journalists explain to readers who Tony Rezko is, and what his connection to Barack Obama is. It’s well worth the read, as a kind of introduction. One wonders in how far Rezko will hurt Obama’s chances (to win, especially in November if he’s the Democratic nominee). Pundita has some additional thoughts and comments; it seems that the Times forgot to mention something that seems quite relevant.
Tiger Hawk summarizes:
In other words, Rezko effectively subsidized the purchase of Barack Obama’s home and yard to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, the actual amount depending on whether you believe the yard and the house would have been bifurcated and sold separately without cooperation between the buyers.
The Australian also weighs in:
The timing of the trial could not be worse for Senator Obama, who hopes to wrap up the Democratic nomination later today when voters go to the polls in Texas and Ohio.
Rival Hillary Clinton has jumped on the opportunity to criticise Senator Obama’s long involvement with Mr Rezko and demand he come clean about their dealings.
Her chief strategist Mark Penn said Senator Clinton would be treated very differently if she had been in the same situation.
“If someone with a 17-year relationship with Senator Clinton was going on trial for getting kickbacks and bribing public officials, and that person had also participated in some way in a house transaction (with her) … there would be an enormous number of questions and answers demanded upon immediately,” Mr Penn said.
“That’s exactly what’s going on with Senator Obama today.”
Like Hugh Hewitt I ‘would like the record to show that Team Clinton did not send me the link, or suggest the Rezko theme music: The Guess Who’s “Share The Land.”‘

As Americans we fight for Hope and that is what Hillary doesn’t have. She can’t bring hope because she’s of one of the ones that have left us hopeless…Last night we were given an opportunity! It’s time to show America how strong Hope can be. These pithy issues should not detract from Obama’s message: Hope for America. I found this video that promotes these ideas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgCGMM1zx9E
Check it Out…
My fiance’ heard a terrible thing said by Rush Limbaugh this AM.
He is saying Rezko has donated millions to Osama Bin Laden and is implicating Senator Obama. How are you able to put a stop to the lies by that man……Also wonder if he didn’t have a part in the wins by Hillary as he has been appealing to people to vote for Hillary (repulican) in the primaries….if so seems to have worked.

I’m still trying to understand the obsession with Rezko, and don’t get it. Obama ‘bought’ a house and even additional property for that house from Rezko, right? Rezko didn’t ‘give’ him a house or anything. The only thing he’s given him was a 10,000 dollar campaign donation? And had a fund raiser that collected 200,000 in campaign funds (most of which was returned despite it not having been Rezko’s money)?
Ok, so he has a ‘dirty’ friend. We all do. The Clintons have alot more than Obama has, and they’re making it sound like the end of the world. This is all part of the "campaigning against" instead of "campaigning for yourself" style of media politics which makes politics a bad after-taste. (Not referencing the blogger who stayed objective, but the media in general)
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama:
Dear Madam, and Sir,
A Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama ticket is what we want. And that is what we need to take back the Whitehouse. We want a smart, tough, idealistic, seasoned veteran of many battles fighting for the American people (Hillary Clinton). With a young, passionate, smart, open-minded, hard-working idealist fighting for the American people (Barrack Obama). The DREAM TEAM!
You are both fabulous candidates. And we, the American people are very fortunate to have each of you. Taking back the Whitehouse is critical for the American people, and the world at this time. And I think the American people have been saying loudly, and clearly that a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket is the best way to do this.
I think the American people have made it very clear that they feel Hillary Clinton is the one best able to lead the ticket against John McCain at this critical, and desperate time in America, and around the world. These dramatic comebacks are testament to Hillary Clinton’s skill, and experience as a fighter for the American people. They are also a testament to the strong desire of the American people to have both of you fighting for the American people at this time of midnight in America.
Typical of the Clinton’s is an uncanny ability to see and understand what the American people want. And then to try and get it for them. Even if they have to go through three political near death experiences to try and get it for the American people. This is classic Clinton’s. They are the best I have ever seen.
We are desperate out here. Millions of us are suffering greatly. And tens of thousands of us are dying needlessly every year. Men, women, children, and babies. We need help! As Hillary Clinton said "It’s not a game". We need the two of you together on our side fighting for us, and for the American dream for all. Not fighting against each other anymore.
It’s time for you Senator Obama to join forces with Hillary Clinton as her running mate so that we can all focus our energies, and resources on taking back America for the American people.
Don’t make me hurt you.
Sincerely
Jacksmith…
Watch, before this is all over, there will be claims that Rezko is really a Karl Rove operative!
There’s a saying, "Tell me who your friends are, I can tell you who you are."
Senator. Obama has 17 years relationship with Mr. Rezko who is on trial of bribing public officials. Sen. Obama also involved a "dirty" real estate deal with Mr. Rezko!! Doesn’t it tell us something about Mr. Obama here ???
And yet, Mrs. Obama said in two different occasions, "for the first time in my adult life, I’m pround of my country." I question both Obamas on their patriot.
I’m a Democrat. If Senator. Hillary Clinton wins nominee, I will certainly vote for her in November. If not, I will vote for Sen. John McCain. At least, I know for sure, my elected President is an patriot.
