This is amazing: I always thought that penguins couldn’t fly. Well, I was right. Almost that is. Experts thought that no penguin could fly, but the BBC has stumbled upon the only penguins in the world that can. Quite amazing stuff, watch the video below the fold.

The programme is being presented by ex-Monty Python star Terry Jones, who said: “We’d been watching the penguins and filming them for days, without a hint of what was to come.
“But then the weather took a turn for the worse. It was quite amazing. Rather than getting together in a huddle to protect themselves from the cold, they did something quite unexpected, that no other penguins can do.”
They flew, just like that.
And not only did they fly a bit; they flew many thousands of miles. They flew to the Amazonian rainforest to find winter sun.

Gotta love April 1st, huh Michael?
Yup.
Let me just add: I was thinking about editing your comment, since you’re spoiling the fun, but decided to keep it up. Next time: don’t spoil the fun, play along!
Wings that work! Opus’ fondest wish (besides being reunited with his mother) comes true at last…
Sorry Michael. The tradition in Australia is that the jokes stop at noon and that anyone playing a joke after that time is themself the fool. I saw the timestamp on your post and figured you’d been caught out by an impressive video.
Ah – no. I was gone for most of the day, so I was able to put a few posts up early in the morning (on timer) but wrote most posts yesterday when I was back. That’s why this post was published a bit late.
