This fast food is Germany’s favorite fast food – probably because Germany has a lot of Turkish immigrants – but quite some Dutch people, including yours truly, are fond of this Turkish meal as well. Noooooooooooooo!

I am sorry to hear this too. But still, I’m planning to eat up as much doner, iskender as possible, when I visit Turkey this summer no matter how expensive it’ll turn out to be. One personal recommendation if I may, get some green peppers, not hungarian, those skinny and long ones get them grilled and serve on the side of the kebab, better to have semi-hot ones for better digestion and distinct taste with the meat.
I’ll go to Turkey tomorrow again. The first thing I’ll do: well, aside from kissing my fiancée… buying me some döner!
Green peppers; I’ll do that. I think that some actually already do that, but if not, I’ll ask for it.
Although what Turks call semi-hot ones are HOT HOT HOT from a Dutch perspective.
Looking at the photos at the linked site makes me think we should add ‘doners’ to the list of sausages and laws- the things that you are better off not seeing as they are being made. Actually, I noticed that they use veal and I’ve already put that on my list of things that I can’t eat after having seen how it’s produced (very inhumane the way that veal calves are raised, unfortunately.)
