Clinton Supporters Have Had Enough
On the day that Hillary Clinton won the primary of Puerto Rico, her main supporters in the blogosphere are giving voice to their anger about the arrangement for Michigan(’s delegates), as decided by the Democratic RBC yesterday. Hillary Is 44 has a good summary up of what most passionate Clinton supporters think and feel right now and what will happen in the coming days, weeks and possibly months.
Whether one agrees 100% with these supporters of Clinton or not, it can’t be denied that the DNC – and Obama as well, for he wasn’t generous enough – screwed this one up tremendously. When you infuriate 50% of your party’s base, you’re doing something wrong.
Does this spell problems for the Democratic Party this November, if Barack Obama will indeed be the Democratic nominee? Quite possibly so. Obama and his supporters – and the DNC at that – seem to believe that Clinton supporters will fall in line once the convention decides that Obama should be the nominee and they, the voters, have to choose between Obama and the Republican nominee John McCain.
But it could all work out slightly differently. At this moment, many die-hard Clinton supporters seem to be genuinely outraged.
If they stay home or, worse, vote for McCain in November, Obama will not be able to win. He need to unite his party. One cannot help but wonder whether he’s able to do so. He presents himself as a uniter, but he’s – as of yet – not able to unite Democrats.

Most decent people will not vote for a man who spent 20 years in a church that preached hatred of white people and hatred of women. Rev.s Wright and Pfleger were Obama’s CLOSE friends for 20 years – not just distant preahcers. This is who he is. He is not a viable candidate. It is even doubtful he will be viable a decade from now given his choices and associations for 20 years.
Since the 50% penalty is exactly the same penalty that the GOP also imposed on FL & MI this year for violating GOP rules, how can they claim an advantage? I think that definitely figured into the reasoning of the RBC. It neutralizes Republican General Election advertising in those states.
Yes, but surely all the conservatives who are staying home, voting for Barr, or voting for Obama will even it out?
Had to bring that up to show how ridiculous people on both sides are being about this kind of thing.
Please go to BJ to read Coles take on the matter. Clinton supporters on the committee accepted the compromise. How did Obamama manage to brainwash or blackmail the Clinton people?
is there anyone left in the world with the highly insanely stupid thought that this is not weakening the DNC? Other than Bill & Hillary and Hillbots of course.

Got me. I was predicting that the FL/MI thing would bite them in the hienie and weaken the eventual candidate and maybe even the down-ballot as far back as 2006.
Of course, had I been wrong I wouldn’t mention it.
But I was right.
It appears that the Clinton supporters who are upset are not up on the rules. The RBC cannot decide to drop all penalties; that was never an option. The most they are allowed to do, under the rules, is seat the delegations with only a 50% penalty. Which is what they did with Florida.
As for Michigan, it was alwyas going to be a challenge to work out the reasonable thing, given that only one candidate was on the ballot. The fact that the RBC, with a majority of Clinton supporters, decided the way that they did means one of two things:They (or at least some of them) figure it’s all over but the shouting. And so it’s time, in the interestes of the party, to get the shouting over with and start focusing as soon as possible on November. The Clinton supporters decided that this was the best way to trash Obama’s chances for November. Thus giving Clinton the best shot at 2012.Which view you take depends, I suppose, on how you view the candidates and their campaigns going in.
