Hundreds of Homes Flooded by Tropical Storm Fay
Tropic Storm Fay has finally hit Florida. Although the damage is much less severe than the damage caused by hurricane Katrina, it is still considerable. At the moment of writing, hundreds of Florida homes were flooded by the storm. Some of them by up to five feet.
“We can’t even get out of our house,” said Billie Dayton of Port St. Lucie, as waters lapped at her porch. “We’re just hoping that it doesn’t rain anymore.”
The Florida National Guard is helping residents fight the water. They help doing damage assessments and evacuate residents caught by the floods.
Luckily no one has been killed by the floods at this point in time. Some were almost killed, but their fellow Floridians helped them survive.
