Thousands of Suitcases Missing on Airport Schiphol

Thousands of suitcases have gone missing on Schiphol, the airport close to Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. Most of them were lost - probably stolen - last month during a strike by luggage personel.

Consumer organization Dolor is preparing a law suit against the luggage personel in order to compensate travelers victimized by them.

The average passenger claims losses of 1800 euros, approximately 2700 USD.

Luggage companies Aviapartner and Flightcare say they are responsible for the mess. “It is not our responsibility” that luggage was stolen, Aviapartner told reporters.

“That has nothing to do with the strike. We are a middleman for aircompanies and passengers, that is all.”

Victims of the strike are likely to disagree with that assessment.

I don’t wish to insult your country Michael, but Schipol Airport security is very disorganised, probably the worst that I have ever experienced. Last time I was there the security checks took about 30 minutes and almost led to me missing my plane.
