I went to Catholic schools for 8 years and no where do I see in CST that one should use the power of the federal government to take other people's money at gun point to spend on the less fortunate. Why does it have to be the government? Why can't it be individuals voluntarily contributing to worthwhile causes? Look at Obama's taxes returns and the amount he has donated to charity in light of his and his wife's large salaries. I think you will be surprised at how little they donated. In addition, I think research shows that conservatives on average donate way more than liberals to charitable causes.
