Democrats Play Public, Pelosi Calls GOP “Unpatriotic”

Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership in general are showing their true face. When the recent crisis started in the financial markets and Congress was called upon to agree to a $700 billion deal to help financial institutions in trouble and prevent the economy from collapsing, Pelosi at all acted as if a deal would have been possible nearly immediately if only those pesky Republican Congressmen would have agreed to some kind of deal ‘in the interest’ of the nation.

When John McCain went to Washington D.C. to help out, to help Republican Congressmen get involved, Democrats pretended that he destroyed any chances of a deal - which was close they said - even though they were not closing in on any deal before McCain came. In less diplomatic language: Democrats were lying through their teeth.

Today Pelosi showed her true colors even more by calling Republican congressman “unpatriotic.” Their crime: not attenting a meeting about the bailout plan.

The problem? They were not invited to the meeting. The Democrats simply made it impossible for House Republicans to participate in negotiations. One would have expected Pelosi and her fellow Democrats to reach out to Republicans so as to work out a deal ASAP, ‘for the sake of the nation’ and all that. Instead, House Republicans could not even participate in the meeting - I guess this destroys the criticism that House Republicans actively opposed the plan and that it was their fault that a deal wasn’t agreed upon earlier.

Will voters see through the Democratic lies, spin and distortions? Probably not, after all, the NYT, WaPo, Newsweek, ABC, MSNBC and others are doing everything in their power to help Barack Obama get elected.

Nonetheless, for those willing to do a bit of research it should be rather obvious that Democrats used this crisis for political gain, and that leading Democrats lied through their teeth about what was happening and why.
