Newsroom Members: ‘Elite Media’ In Tank for Obama

It has been said for weeks, even months, that the so-called ‘elite media’ seem to be in the tank for Barack Obama. Many conservatives and independents have complained that Obama is not being vetted at all, while John McCain and Sarah Palin receive more attention than necessary. When something happens that would hurt Obama, the ‘elite media’ ignore it.

Individuals working at major newsrooms have now admitted that the companies they work for are indeed in the tank for Obama:

Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working.

 And:

I have a couple friends who work in the MSM, too, and one of them tells me the newsroom is (exact words) “unbelievably cavalier” about any complaints viewers register about their reports, what they ignore, their bias or the way they edit Republicans vs. the way the treat Dems. “Cavalier” as in the fix is in and they don’t even have to pretend to care what half the country thinks or wants.

At this moment, the betrayal of the ‘elite journalists’ and the news outlets they work for is going rather well. Many see through the biased reporting, but many others do not. More importantly, it’s helping Obama and Joe Biden tremendously. The two are doing much better in the polls than they did only weeks ago, partially due to a major offensive of ‘elite journalists’ doing everything in their power to discredit McCain and Palin.

Nearly every single newspaper lost readers in the past couple of years - a major reason for this development was that many readers considered said newspapers to be biased. However, instead of becoming more objective those newspapers and news channels decided to go nuclear - they have become even more subjective. It will certainly cost them more readers and viewers, but, I think they’re guessing, not that many more. They probably believe they’ve pretty much hit rock bottom, and that things will not get much worse; so they are now doing everything in their power to get candidates they support elected.

The above makes it all the more important for websites such as PoliGazette - which is not partisan, yet right-of-center - to exist, to comment on what the major outlets report, and to offer original reporting, columns, analysis, etc. The betrayal of the traditional media opens the door to new outlets that do take their responsibilities serious.

It’s definitely gotten bad.  However, there are a few instances of bias the other way completely, even in the so-called liberal media.  Like that edited McCain interview with Katie Couric from a few months ago.

Surely I’ll be blasted from some of the more liberal members here, but at least Fox News tries to be balanced in their reporting.  Just their reporting, though.  I do find them slightly more sensationalistic, though.  Commentary/punditry wise, they lean heavily conservative.  Just as MSNBC leans heavily liberal on that front.

Is there really anything  positive to say about McCain and Palin lately?Fox News reporting is not balanced - it has been discredited as simply lying about democrats and republicans in order to balance the weights. There is a difference between putting weights on both scales and putting your finger down to "even" things out - if there is genuine dirt on democrats, Fox News won’t bother to put it up more often than not.I also think that the media is focussing more on McCain’s negatives, but I think they have done so on Obama before depending on what narrative and issue is closest to hand. The media listens to itself and is pathologically lazy.Anyways, from what I can see, Obama would still win in a meritocracy with or without this allegedly game-changing media buffering, but seeing as the GOP has stolen elections before and they aren’t above making a show out of the love (I assume) of two young people simply to take people’s minds away from actual issues and important matters I am happy to see Obama get a boost, even if I think he should reject such help if he could.I do detest the usage of the word elite, even within apostrophes. The word has been as inflated as the housing market, and makes me chuckle at the indignated users rather than sympathize with their points. Elite media derangement syndrome has been seen before, but I think this article avoided it.
