In what appears to be a subtle pro-McCain ad, Leonardo DiCaprio and Company have teamed up with THE google to help you register to vote.
Although the video’s bias is clear (abortion rights and gun control among issues mentioned), at least they didn’t use chain mail scare tactics to get you to send the video to five friends. “If you don’t send this to five friends, John W. McSame will win the election!!!”
As a person who recently registered to vote absentee in the state of Nebraska, the Google’s set up (like most everything of the Google’s) is just about perfect. Voter registration drives like Rock the Vote and Credo Mobile are completely useless for registering because they use a standard form for all states. This form was not accepted in Nebraska. One has to go to the Nebraska Secretary of State website to get the proper forms and information. And that is what the Google’s new project does: it takes you right to the sites you need depending on your state. Finding the information is extremely easy; now all that is left to do is vote and die!

I think the race to the lowest common denominator voter is officially over.
Milestones along the way included motor voter and Rock the Vote, but clearly we’ve reached the end point with "You can literally register to vote while you’re pooping, if you have a laptop."
C Stanley, you may not know Sarah Silverman, but that’s just her style. Her entire schtick is looking like the "girl next door" while saying outrageous things in a sweet voice. If she ever got on camera and acted normal, people would think she was sick.
This video is oriented towards the young, and therefore speaks to them the way they speak to eachother. I think it’s a good video and if it gets people participating, I frankly don’t care how many poop jokes they use.
Claudia, I’m well aware of all of that and I stick to my comments. If Obama feels it’s justified to point out that some voters who aren’t embracing him are clinging to their first and second amendment rights, I think it’s much more justified to point out that many who do side with him are excessively motivated by incredibly dumb pop culture references.
I’m confused – a ’subtle pro-McCain ad’? This ad is clearly a thinly veiled attempt to get Democratic voters out there. There was not one pro-Republican issue mentioned (gun-control, abortion rights, women’s rights). The issues all mentioned are those in which Democrats believe Republicans are on the wrong side of the issue. How is this a ‘pro-McCain’ ad? Its really pro-Obama. I was waiting for them to say ‘But, if you are a Republican, then just stay home and forget you saw this message’.
D Burke: I’m pretty sure that was sarcasm.
