Chavez is a thug. He needs to ratchet up the anti-Americanism to stay in power now that the global economic collapse has lowered the price of oil and thereby cut his cash supply. If the USA is so bad, why doesn’t he sell his oil to someone else?

Jason;I wasn’t "blowing it off"; I was asking a simple question. It seemed to mee it wouldn’t hurt the US or Mcdonald’s and certainly not help Venezuelans.

The government cited ‘tax irregularities’ as reason for the forced closure.

This is the usual reason that is cited whenever the real problem is failure to pay bribes to government officials. It is a pretty old gig.

He is hurting everyone who wants to open, operate, or patronize businesses on non-political criteria in Venezuela.

If George W. Bush ordered businesses run by people he didn’t like shut down, would you be blowing it off with “who is he hurting”?
