Columbus Think Tank Files Rico Action Against ACORN
There we have it, only minutes after I publish an article on Acorn entitled “Acorn Continues to Make Headlines,” news breaks that a Columbus think tank filed a Rico state action against the organization which has been accused of thousands of cases of fraud this year.
The Buckeye Institute filed the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now on behalf of two Warren County voters.
In the case, the Buckeye Institute seeks the “dissolution” of Acorn “as a legal entity,” the think tank said on its website Tuesday.
Plaintiffs Jennifer Miller of Mason, Ohio and Kimberly Grant of Loveland, allege that Acorn’s habit of registering thousands of non-existing individual as voters “deprive them of the right to participate in an honest and effective elections process. They allege fraudulent voter registrations submitted by ACORN dilute the votes of legally registered voters.”
“The right to cast a vote that is not diluted by fraudulent votes is a fundamental individual right,” Buckeye Institute President David Hansen said.
“ACORN appears to be recklessly disregarding Ohio laws and adding thousands of fraudulent voters to the state’s roles in the process,” Maurice Thompson, Director of the Buckeye Institute’s 1851 Center for Constitutional Law said. “Such voter fraud erodes the value of legally cast votes,” he added.
In the complaint, the Buckeye Institute cites an accumulation of evidence showing numerous instances of admitted fraud by ACORN employees, as well as individuals solicited by ACORN.
“In light of its hiring, training and compensation practices, ACORN should have known its conduct would cause fraud,” Thompson said. “It also should know that its conduct will cause fraud in the future.”
The entire complaint is available online.
Acorn pretends to be a non-partisan organization dedicated to registering as many Americans as possible as voters, but has been accused in recent days and weeks of being highly partisan and, above all, breaking the law in order to help Democrats win elections. Officials in several states complained recently that Acorn had filed thousands of registration forms that were clearly fake. People who had died years ago were signed up for the registration effort.
In other case, Acorn employees had very clearly faked signatures and names. When CNN, for instance, double checked some names on the registration forms filed by Acorn in Indiana, it found that the ‘people’ were not people at all but, rather, names of businesses.
As Michelle Malkin wrote today, “[t]his should be done in every one of the states where ACORN ‘franchises’ operate,” since there is little doubt about the organization’s lack of adherence to the law. Acorn seems to be less of a non-partisan organization and more of a Mafia family, dedicated to take over the country as a whole, in order to pursuit a progressive agenda.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for any serious penalties against ACORN. The Ohio Attorney General won’t help.
First, no one should be citing Michele Malkin. She has no credibility. I don’t seem to understand the complaint. If ACORN registers a non-person as a voter, like a business, that ‘person’ will not show up to actually vote. It would be a pointless exercise. I have no idea if ACORN did this. But they would pretty stupid to do it. I would expect that a certain number of new registration applications would be nonsense. It would depend then on the percentage of bad registrations compared to the general public. Raise real issues. So far, you have not supported your claims sufficiently.

Nope. They will use the early vote option, and they will do it themselves. That is the point (among other things). Early voting doesn’t have the same rules voting on election day has.
Michael is correct. The states that don’t require photo ID (thanks to the Democrats) have made it possible for dead people to vote, as well as felons and multiple-time registrants who use early voter options to vote many times under many different names. This turns a win by majority into a win by FRAUD, which is criminal. Obama bears the burden of guilt for having spent most of his working life pushing for this kind of fraud in addition to the push for banks to lend money to illegals and other unqualified borrowers that has caused the current financial crisis that hurts all of us.
Can others join this suit? I for one think that this organization should be disolved and should no longer be allowed to received public funds…………
