McCain Camp Compares Time’s Joe Klein to Daily Kos

October 21st, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

Joe Klein, who writes for TIME, complained to Politico that he had not been allowed to travel with the press corps accompanying Sarah Palin and / or John McCain on their trips. The campaign, Klein nagged, always gave a different excuse not to let him on the plane, or even in the same room with the Republican candidates for vice president and president.

And so, Politico decided to spend an entire article on Klein’s hurt feelings. Howcome Klein, the man who led the full frontal assault on McCain’s character together with people like Andrew Sullivan, was not allowed to speak to the candidates? Why was he banned, Klein and Politico cried.

The McCain campaign responded shortly after Politico ran the article. In the words of McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb: “We don’t allow Daily Kos diarists on board either.”

It is yet another sign of the troubling relationship between members of the ‘elite media’ and McCain, and, of course, the anger the McCain camp feels towards journalists who have betrayed their profession to turn into full fledged propagandists for Barack Obama.

As for me, I find Goldfarb’s response to be perfect.

This is shocking news!  Joe Klein has upset the McCain campaign?  The McCain campaign has found a reason to keep him off the plane?
