The average YouTube user was once younger than 25 years. Then, in 2007, the average age rose to somewhere in the mid to high twenties, while increasingly more older Internet users also found the video sharing website and became frequent users and visitors.

In 2008, the changing demographics of YouTube resulted in the following statistics:

1. 18% of YouTube users visitors today are younger than 18 years old.

2. 20% are between 18 and 34

3. 19% are between 35 and 44 years old

4. And then: 21% are between 45 and 54 years old

5. While another 21% are 55 or older

This means that after several years of growth, 61% of YouTube users are age 35 or older.

The recently released stats once again emphasize that increasingly more older citizens use the Internet to the fullest and visit social networking, video sharing and other sites once considered the domain of the young.

Expect more Charlie Chaplin videos to be published on YouTube in the coming years.
