Israel Closes Gaza Crossings
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered the closure of Israel’s crossings with the Gaza Strip on Thursday, after Palestinian militants fired a rocket at southern Israel.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said no one was injured by the rocket attack, even though it landed near the city of Sderot.
The closure of the crossings could hurt the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by Hamas, tremendously for they are used to bring vital supplies to them.
The attack took place despite a fourth-month old ceasefire. Under this agreement, Hamas would prevent militants from firing rockets at Israel and Israel would, in return, slowly lift the blockade it put on Gaza two years ago.
