Palin Health Summary: Fit for Duty
CNN is reporting that hours before the 2008 election, the McCain campaign has released a summary of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s overall health.
The verdict? Fit for duty.
CNN:
The November 3 letter from her physician, Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, says, “Governor Palin is in excellent health and has no known health problems that would interfere with her ability to carry out the duties and obligation of Vice President of the United States of America.”
…
Palin has had four term pregnancies and one pre-term pregnancy in 2008, when her son, Trig, was born with Down’s syndrome at 35 weeks.
…
Her hospitalizations have been for childbirth, the letter says. In 1992, Palin had a breast biopsy for what turned out to be a benign lesion. Palin’s vital signs are considered normal, with a blood pressure of 96/61 and a pulse of 77 at the time of her last office visit — though no date was given.
I guess the only question I have is, if all is so peachy, why release this so late in the game? But, whatever. It was never a big thing with me, anyway, except for general fairness, since everyone else had released something.
Not everyone was so ready to let it go. Blogger Andrew Sullivan in particular was vocal about getting Palin’s records released, especially in regards to the birth of her son Trig. I don’t think there’s anything more to say about that situation. For me, it’s long been proven there’s nothing dubious behind the birth. I can’t get sympathetic with all the sticky details he wants. I was a barely premature baby myself (right on the 37 week line). So what? Something tells me Sullivan won’t be satisfied with a summary; yet, as the article notes, Barack Obama also only released a summary of his heath earlier this year.
The interesting thing in the article is where it went wrong. It said Obama and Palin are both 47. That’s incorrect. Palin is 45.
