Well, it's finally happened. The Supreme Court has decided the claim Obama is not a citizen are not worth their time to listen to.

I recently applied for a medical license in another state. I am sixty-one years old and had to jump through many hoops to make sure I had a copy of my authentic birth certificate sent to that state.

Obama has not produced a copy of his vault birth certificate. That is all he has to do to put this to rest. Why will he not do it?

Kitt, even if I were to accept the highly dubious claim that you managed to vote for Obama while simultaneously believe all of that unsupported junk, the issue is quite simple:

Obama was born in the United States to an American mother. There is solid evidence for this and only this. All other claims range between conjecture to outright fantasy and have no, none, zero supporting evidence.

Not everyone questioning Obama on his nationality is a Wing Nut. Some of us voted for him. However, afterwords the fact that he lived and held a passport in Indonesia during a time that the US did not have a specified kind of agreement with them, means he would of had to DENY or his mother would of had to deny his US citizenship and become a citizen of that country to be able to legally hold a passport and also to be able to go to school there. This is something that bothers me, and Obama freely admitted he went to school in Indonesia please read his book. Now that is only one issue, the other issue is due to British law which Kenya was under at the time of his birth it made Obama a duel citizen and the law is recognized due to Treaties we hold with those countries.. Unless he at the age of 21 sent a formal letter to England denouncing his English and his Kenyan citizenship he is still a duel citizen hence the lawsuit. I am not a wing nut I voted for this man, but I believe that he has mislead a lot of people another major concern is the fact that during his law exam he did not disclose his Adopted name. Is this something the US Supreme Court needs to look at YES why because there needs to be a check. This would of happened even if McCain had gotten into office, there were already challenges to his citizenship status however due to him being in the military the military was the one who sent the letter terminating his duel citizenship before his 21st birthday as required by US law in order to be considered an Natural born citizen. I only know this much and I know that it is legally true and anyone who has a child in the US military who was born overseas and hold duel citizenship is explained this law and legal technicality. I can't even say that Obama is ignorant of the law and that he didn't already do these things considering he's a lawyer. No one not even the president or president elect can be more powerful then the Constitution or America is already dead. I hope that Obama did denounce his citizenship and that this is all just Wing nut stuff. Even if the issue just causes there to be a definite check so Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain and future African, White, Purple , Pink or even Green presidents can run without these kind of fringe on the side. Why can't Mr. Obama as the man who ran to unite the country just answer seriously answer and provide all the documentation to the Court and put everyone's mind at rest? NO non of these people currently have any harm to them so 10 to 1 they will be dismissed but it will not go away as long as it looks even to a supporter who wishes I could have blind faith in this man, but Bush was already a great example of where Blind faith leads ppl.

Asking questions is fine. What differentiates the merely critical from the bigoted is whether or not they accept the answers.

OK, no problem, Michael. My point was just that some Obama supporters and surrogates behaved as though the original question of his eligibility shouldn't have been raised at all. I found the 'racist' angle particularly obnoxious as an attempt to silence anyone who questioned him. And there's also irony in the fact that Obama himself first got elected to office in Illinois by challenging the eligibility of his own opponents.

Blah! My bad there. I misread your post under lack of sleep and was thinking you meant to say raising questions in general. Wasn't deliberately trying to raise an apples and oranges comparison.

And I agreed that the questions should be answered. And to my mind they have been.

Both candidates in this election cycle have had the questioned raise, and both have answered them properly.

I assume, of course, that you also welcome questions about the equally ridiculous question of Trig Palin’s birth? Ones that still continue in some quarters?

Say what?? What does having a child have to do with Constitutional requirement to hold the office of the presidency, Michael? You can't be serious?

In fact, raising that comparison shows my point: that the burden of proof should indeed be on the candidate to show that he's eligible if questions are raised (whereas the burden of proof in the case of an issue which may be of interest to voters is on those who raise the issue, not on the candidate to disprove rumors.) Many people have said otherwise- that these questions are just loony conspiracy theories which shouldn't be given the dignity of a response. While I agree with Orson (in fact I noted the same point in my original comment- once the question was answered, then further tin foil hat claims of illegitimacy should be ignored), the original question of one's eligibility should be a completely valid question.

And of course, as noted, Michael, this has absolutely no comparison to wild speculation about maternity of one's child.

First of all, as alot of us know, Obama came into existence on Antichton.

*Sigh* There had to be one, didn't there?

CStanley, of course asking questions is okay, but it seems like this current question is one more of the murky U.S. law variety, the same the brought questions up about McCain's citizenship.

Look, I voted for the guy but more importantly, the electorate and US Constitution should be respected. If there are questions, from the looney left or right, let's have them aired in public view so there are NO questions left to be tossed about. That's not too much to ask or expect.
