NY Times Opinionater
The Opinionater of the New York Times is one great blog for those who want to know what different blogs and bloggers write about the most newsworthy items of the day. Chris Suellentrop wrote for this NYT blog in the past, but he seems to have moved on to other things while his partner in crime, Tobin Harshaw still writes for it. Harshaw was joined recently by Eric Etheridge.
One of the reasons I love the Opinionater is that we are on its very short blogroll; we’re one of only six blogs they link to. Another reason is that they are very fair to moderates, conservatives and liberals alike. Thirdly, they often find great items I missed.
One of ‘em: ‘On Monday, Foreign Policy launched its new web site, continuing its transformation from staid quarterly to hip journal. The magazine, now owned by the Washington Post, has a snappy new homepage that looks similar to that of the snappy new Daily Beast and an ambition, FoPo blogger Tom Ricks told Politico, to bring “Politico-type coverage” to the issues of foreign policy and national security.’
The Best Defense by Thomas Ricks, a former WaPo military correspondent and author of Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq.
Madame Secretary, “an obsessive blog about Hillary Clinton,” by Carolyn O’Hara, a senior editor at the magazine.
A blog on the Midde East by Marc Lynch, professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University.
The Cable, “reporting inside the policy machine,” by Laura Rozen, who has reported on national security for Mother Jones, Washington Monthly and American Prospect.
I had missed that, but checked the blogs out instantly.
Not only did Eric link to the blogs above but also to the new blog I’ll write for (first post will appear when I receive my log-in Andrew!): Big Hollywood.
