One way to do it would be to boycott government obligations and organizing peaceful revolts whenever necessary to protest institutional racism. Education is definitely a way out, being wary and alert of their society and protesting at every front whenever there is mistreatment and deprivation is also a prime concern for the African American community. Another article had quoted it from the Reader's Digest quite a few years back, and the idea was that an entire flock of seagulls had no idea how to fish, because for generations they'd been eating from shrimp nets. And when the shrimping boats left, they starved. I'm curious to see whether that story is true. But it seem the idea applies well to our current situation, be it an ethnic group or an industry... we have to stop relying on someone else to take care of our needs :-/ I read an interesting article yesterday about “Gullible Gulls” .
