Jon, if you don't think they edited that interview, you don't have the slightest clue what goes into producing news and interview programming. The question isn't whether they edited the interview or not, the question is whether they edited it in a way that would cast Palin in a negative light. I haven't seen the interview myself (although I have seen/heard clips from it), but from what I've seen from the media over the years, it would absolutely shock me if they DIDN'T do everything they could to make it as negative as possible for Palin. Inexplicably, they still have the power to shape a sizable portion of public opinion. They know that, and they have no qualms at all about using that power.

On what basis do you think Palin is "dumb"? I've asked that question of several liberals, and most of them point to the misquoted and brutally misattributed statement about Palin being able to "see Russia from [her] house." Palin never said that. It was some dimwit on Fox News. [I like Fox News, but that was not one of their best moments.] It was then played up by Tina Fey when she did some of her many appearances on SNL as Palin, which then gave the appearance that Palin herself had said it.

Oh, and before you go ranting that I'm some Palin sycophant, let me stop you. I don't trust her, nor virtually any politician, in the least. To say she's "dumb", however, tells me you lap up everything the liberal media want you to see and hear. Start looking into things for yourself instead of having your opinions spoon-fed into you by others.

This says a lot about USC and very little about Couric. She has done wonders for Colon Cancer awareness, but, her lack of talent as a News Anchor makes this award a joke. It is a further example of the lack of credibiliity we are getting from the elite media and education system. Katy was great as fluff on the morning talk shows but a waste in her current assignment. Look at her ratings!

I don't think Katie and CBS staff edited it.. it's just that Palin is dumb and no one can argue that Katie's best ability is her interviewing skills.. that's her ticket to success on the Today Show

"Thanks you. You’ve confirmed that Palin is STILL radio active."

Yeah, it's not the "lefty" in me who's afraid of Sarah Palin, I'll have you know. It's the part of my brain that tells me that 8 times 8 is 64 that shows most of the antagonism.

I never viewed Palin through America media, and I did not watch the offending interview. I simply looked at quotes by her and the inevitable fiskings offered by Andrew Sullivan, whose intellectual and conservative credentials stand up better than thos of most republicans or democrats. The thought of her getting out of Alaska scared my skin off.

I don't approve of Couric's sly editing at all. Palin needed to be repulsed, but fairly and in a way that an objective arbiter would approve of. Plus, Palin's biggest enemy is herself. With all her lies and contradicting posturing, I can't imagine an independent needing to watch her through a "liberal", "MSM" filter in order to run screaming in the other direction. She doesn't deserve to be a martyr.
