Good News: Border Czar to the Rescue
Good news: President Obama believes America doesn’t have enough czars just yet, so he will appoint a “border czar” who will have to “watch” the Mexico-U.S. border.
I sincerely hope he will do more than “watch,” considering the fact that hundreds of thousands of individuals cross the border illegally every year.
An Obama administration official says Napolitano on Wednesday will name Alan Bersin, a former federal prosecutor, to fill the new post at the Homeland Security Department. The official would speak only on condition of anonymity ahead of the announcement expected in El Paso, Texas.
All kidding aside, this actually is good news. The border problem has carried on for way too long. It is not just unsafe, it is terribly dangerous. Drugs are smuggled into the U.S. every day, while weapons are smuggled the other way, resulting in many innocent victims.
Add to that the illegal immigration problem and it’s difficult if not impossible to understand why lawmakers were unable to agree on a (compromise) solution years ago.
