It’s Tea Party Time

Today is Tea Party Day. Tens of thousands of patriotic Americans are expected to go out today, to let the Obama administration know they are unwilling to saddle their children and grandchildren with a tremendous debt burden – one they will not be able to pay off without losing much of their prosperity – and that they are not willing to see their taxes being raised either.
It is a special day, for fiscal conservatives normally do not protest. Social democrats do. Fiscal conservatives are an entirely different breed altogether, however. They have jobs, they work hard; they talk about politics, but they are seldom politically active. A lot has to happen before they jump off the fence. That “a lot” has now happened: they read President Barack Obama’s economic plans and realized that they, their children and their grandchildren have to work for years just to pay off the debts it causes.
Glenn Reynolds explains for the Wall Street Journal: ‘Today American taxpayers in more than 300 locations in all 50 states will hold rallies — dubbed “tea parties” — to protest higher taxes and out-of-control government spending. There is no political party behind these rallies, no grand right-wing conspiracy, not even a 501(c) group like MoveOn.org.’ This is a movement by and for ordinary folks. That is its strength, but also its weakness: ordinary citizens often do not know how to organize effective and professional protests.
Still, they are doing a wonderful job.
You have to keep in mind, of course, that the tea parties are not merely a reaction to Obama’s domestic policies. They are also a product of the anger and frustrations many Americans have felt for years now. Everytime they voted for someone who promised to be fiscally responsible, they were betrayed.
In any case, today is a big day for fiscal conservatives, and for Americans who worry about their children’s prosperity. Once the tea parties start later today, we will be on top of them. Visit us regularly today if you want to stay up-to-date.

I have not checked and verified the figures myself. According to ole Newt
* If you’re a 50-year old-with a college degree, you will pay approximately $81,000 over your working life just to pay the interest on the debt in the Obama budget.
* If you’re a 40-year-old, you’ll pay $132,000.
* And if you’re a 20-year-old, just starting out after college, you will pay a whopping $114,000 just to service the interest on the debt created by the Obama budget.
It’s not out-of-the-question that the 2009 Tea Party participants could someday be regarded by history as patriots who made a difference- same as 1773. This sort of public outrage might be just what’s needed to break through the media’s manufactured reality.
And you can believe that Obama and the left are plenty scared of the TEA party movement- how else to explain the dubious timing of the DHS report warning of “right-wing” radicals and their propensity to violence?
Barack Obama is rapidly liquidating everything that made this country great… and needs to be put back-on-his-heels with a major embarrassment that puts an end to the myth that everybody just loves Barack and his wacked-out agenda… because millions of us DON’T.
“they are unwilling to saddle their children and grandchildren with a tremendous debt burden”
… all of a sudden.
On the same tack, I do find it odd that not more left-wingers are complaining about Obama basically letting capitalists get off scot-free without even having to pay the prize of an allegedly meritocratic system. Basically, everyone has to compete and navigate the treacherous free market but the archaic institutions and systems that lobby politicians and keep us all addicted by default get special treatment. The people of Indonesia are steered and exploited by the IMF but when deregulation and greed finally becomes cancerous all of society have to help and prop up the status quo and reimburse the IMF. I consider this fascism light.
ahh you are of the – lightweight group that believe since it’s always been deficits that to run one that dwarfs all before it – is nothing to write home about?
Gotta love the European Socialism view of things – naturally their system has worked so very well
“ahh you are of the – lightweight group that believe since it’s always been deficits that to run one that dwarfs all before it – is nothing to write home about?”
Just pointing out that I have a reasonable suspicion that many of the Teabaggers aren’t exactly the least hypocritical bunch in the *entire* known universe. I have nothing against the message, just the messengers and the holier-than-thou garb they are donning.
“Gotta love the European Socialism view of things – naturally their system has worked so very well”
Man we are just lunging for the s-word these days aren’t we? Give it a miss.
Im going to a tea party in just a few minutes.
Im infuriated not at taxes. Im infuriated at the progressive Obama’s plan to spend 1.7 trillion on things we cant afford for one very important reason.
He knows as does all progressives that once its a program it is like a cancer. It cannot be irradicated. We will be paying a lot more then 10 trillion over the next 10 years I can promise you that.
When they say its 1 dollar it becomes 2 dollars. 100 dollars becomes 200 dollars. 1 billion becomes 2 billion. 1.7 trillion will become 3.4 trillion and the projection of 10 trillion I can promise you will be 20 trillion.
We will be broke in 5-10 years. Once again….I have nothing against viable social programs if we can afford them. We cannot afford these no matter how much we tax the rich which means what???
You got it……everyones gonna pay more taxes. Cap and trade is one example of how the prices are going to escalate over the next 3 years and with runnaway government spending, printing money and escalating prices due to cap and trade we are going to have double digit inflation on top of the rest of our ills.
All because we elected people like Al Franken……..comedians to run our government. A professor who never held a job in his life to run the country.
Lord help us.
“I have nothing against viable social programs if we can afford them.”
Right Brainded, when the left brands conservatives as “heartless”, they are assuming we don’t care about folks that need help. My beef, is with providing handouts to illegals (through overrun school systems and medical facilities), and those that sit on their duffs all day eating doritos that can work. Get a JOB! The free rides are what are bothering me. I know I need to pay taxes, but letting in more an more illegals, and enabling the do nothings to “do nothing” but take money out of my pocket is ludicrous! Where are the attempts to fix this? There are none from the left, as these are the very folks they want to vote for them the next time around (and why there is a push to make illegals voters).
By the way, I am saying this while just being laid off, so comments about me being an elitist or “not understanding the plight of those out of work” won’t fly here. And before anyone asks, yes I am collecting, but that is what assistance is for… “Short term” help. Not a lifetime of sucking off the Government teat. I’m off to find a new job!
Sorry for your plight Jay C. Hope it works out for you. I am very fortunate. America used to be a great country till 911. After 911 I don’t recognize this place anymore.
I do not fear Obama as much as I fear the progressive left who I believe are hell bent for a socialist America using facism to get the job done.
So now we know that all those years of “WERE ALL GONNA DIE” because of deficits were nothing more then lies to cover up lies. Sad too because a very big part of me wanted Obama to succeed even though I wrote in my own name during the presidential part of the ballot.
I want Obama to be a successful 8 year president and bring stability to America. But the first 3 months in office he dumps all over anything and everything the right stands for effectively slapping us all in the face and saying “ha ha….I fooled you”
Well not anymore. Im wise to you and GWB once had a 70 percent approval rating too.
Repeat. George W. Bush once had a 70 percent approval rating too.
Attention Conservatives who are serious about reducing spending !!!
Let’s cut the bloated military budget.
This year’s Pentagon budget runs about 500 billion dollars…that’s 20 times more than the entire military budget of China…a growing rival power with 3 times the population of the US.
Just the Pentagon’s cost overruns and waste would be enough to finance China’s entire military budget.
Brainded could you take photos and email them to me? Our own Marc Moore will also go to one – in Houston – the more photos the better. Good to see you actively comment here on such a regular basis, by the way
I can’t believe all the tax revolt parties going on today. people really are making their voices heard, I just saw a ton of pictures from parties and ralleys going on nationwide here:

pretty interesting! check out the crazy images of people getting together today on tax day!
Jay C.: I’m sorry to hear about your plight as well. Stay positive friend – those who persist win.
Thanks, plugging along…
Here is a great article on the lack of Boston Globe coverage of the Boston teaparty in…Boston..you know, the site of the Origial Tea Party? Yeah, that one…
Great quote..
…”So I shouldn’t have been surprised when I picked up the BG-D this morning–the day after thousands of BOSTON-area citizens gathered at BOSTON Harbor for a BOSTON Tea Party to protest (in part) the taxpayer abuse by our BOSTON-based state government…and found a single local story in the BOSTON paper. Buried on page A16 there was a small AP story with the dateline “Frankfort, KY.” I guess the Boston Globe-Democrat staff just couldn’t resist a “KY” reference… ”
