Obama and Chavez

APTOPIX CB Trinidad Americas Summit

When I saw the above picture of Barack Obama greeting Hugo Chavez earlier today, I knew it wouldn’t be long until the obligatory, “What an idiot” articles were posted.  Sure enough, they’re here.

I gotta say, it might help if Obama wasn’t grinning like a schoolboy in the photo.  He doesn’t have to be emo moody or anything, but Obama frankly looks happier to be there than Chavez does.  It certainly won’t combat the perceptions by his critics that he’s a socialist if he looks like he’s meeting a personal hero.

I know the venue and occasion might prevent it, but it would have been better if they sat down first and gave one of those awkward “we’re sitting two feet apart but shaking hands in a way normal people never would” greetings that you always see in the photo ops done whenever a foreign leader or dignitary visits the United States.

“It certainly won’t combat the perceptions by his critics that he’s a socialist if he looks like he’s meeting a personal hero.”

Could anything combat that perception in those critics? I mean, Obama could make some journeys in time in order to vote for Reagan twice while horse-riding next to Chuck Norris, Senator McCarthy and Eisenhower – they’d still be suspicious.

On the bright side, this time it was the other leader who gave the inappropriate gift.

Although I haven’t heard any reports of whether Obama gave him anything. Please tell me he didn’t give Chavez a Che t-shirt?

Chairman Zero and Red Hugo have a lot in common- both are arrogant narcissists with a racial victimhood complex… and habitual liars.
    -
Both displayed contempt for democracy/opposition once elected- and are absolutely clueless re. economic manners. And both are out to serve a far-left agenda while dragging a bountiful nation into the abyss.
    -
So these two have plenty to yap about-
    -
Actually, I think I respect Chavez more- he might be a misguided socialist twit, but at least he’s honest about it.
