Miss California USA Director Quits Over Carrie Prejean

In resigning her position, Miss California USA Executive Director Shanna Moakler said:

“I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization.

I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth.”

Like many of us, Carrie Prejean is a mixed bag.  It’s hardly a sign of class to pose topless, after all, and the fact that liberal activists have attacked her like rabid dogs because of her public profession of support for normal marriage doesn’t change that.

25 years ago, Vanessa Williams lost the Miss America crown over a similar, if substantially racier spread of pictures published in Penthouse magazine.  Perhaps the times have changed.

Perhaps the most significant difference is that Williams’ demise wasn’t trumpeted in the press as a great and glorious victory for the people the way that Prejean’s would have been had The Donald decreed a like fate for her.  Williams’ fate was a cautionary tale; Prejean’s a skirmish in the culture war led in part by the media.

I’m of two minds about Miss Prejean, who seems to have lied in regard to her agreement with Miss California.  This lie, while obviously a relatively innocent one, indicates that her principles are overly flexible when it comes to telling the truth.

More important, however, is Prejean’s defense of traditional marriage at a moment when, in the national spotlight, far too many of our young women would have committed the ultimate sin by betraying their most deeply-held principles in order to gain favor with those who define what is politically correct at any given moment.

For standing boldly against the fetid tide of cultural relativism, Carrie Prejean can be forgiven a variety of sins, even by Donald Trump who she wronged.  Sadly for Shanna Moakler, who may never hold such a cushy gig again, she finds herself unable to accept either Prejean’s all-too-human failures or her larger-than-life defense of what’s right.

“It’s hardly a sign of class to pose topless”

    Says who?

“the fact that liberal activists have attacked her like rabid dogs because of her public profession of support for normal marriage doesn’t change that”

*Normal* marriage? You mean discriminatory marriage based on a reading of the bible that has to be cherry-picked? Get that weak stuff outta here.

“25 years ago, Vanessa Williams lost the Miss America crown over a similar, if substantially racier spread of pictures published in Penthouse magazine. Perhaps the times have changed.”

Or perhaps Prejean is the christian girl next door while Vanessa was not. Wouldn’t surprise me. Beauty pageants are truly horrible and superficial things.

“in the national spotlight, far too many of our young women would have committed the ultimate sin by betraying their most deeply-held principles in order to gain favor with those who define what is politically correct at any given moment.”

Different things are politically correct at different moments. Turns out that young women will not be considered in high regard if they seek to keep gays marginalized and discriminated against because a bible they don’t follow that well themselves says so. They can keep that useless opinion inside if you ask me. Free speech is an undeniable right – but we don’t have to encourage it one bit.

“For standing boldly against the fetid tide of cultural relativism”

Which is better than the religious relativism that all christians who want to keep gays from getting married but support heterosexual remarriage spread? You call it cultural relativism to end discrimination of gay people? Sickening. If there is one thing that is truly fetid and stagnant it is the state of religious thought in America – hypocritical, self-entitled and politicized.

    “larger-than-life defense of what’s right.”

Prejean actually did the right thing when she voiced her true opinion – that doesn’t mean her opinion has to be respected or well met. There is *nothing* “right” about being against gay marriage – it’s an inherently untenable position.

In an interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Obama said, “I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.”

We all know this entire episode is about the nationalist agenda of the Far left who are doing nothing more then USING Barak Obama to stage their social coup.

Ms. Prejean did nothing wrong in her statement that was almost identical to the one Mr. Obama made. The fact that the left continues its rant only proves that Barak Obama is nothing more then the puppet of the far left and owes his entire ascension to power to a deal worked out with them during the primaries.

Evidenced by Ms. Prejean making this comment and getting pillaged by the left for it. Obama making an identical comment and he was lifted up as the second coming.

    Can anyone spell “backroom politics?”

The far left lost twice against W. They couldn’t stage a squaredance.

“Ms. Prejean did nothing wrong in her statement that was almost identical to the one Mr. Obama made.”

Both Obama and Prejean are dead wrong and philosophically laughable in their statements.

No the lefts agenda is Fascism not Marxism. Get your Isms right. Additionally Obama is not the bad guy in this. The far left smear merchants are and Obama is being forced along for the ride.

That Clinton is not nearly as far from the center or as contestable as W was.

    No need to tell me.

“No the lefts agenda is Fascism not Marxism.”

Sure thing. That’s why actual fascists like Hitler, Pinochet, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and Franco kill and torture the heck out of us all the time!

I’m afraid, Garland, the “weak stuff” falls on you.

PLEASE!!! That falls squarely on the left, talking that smack about “tolerance”. We saw just how much of that they displayed when things don’t go their way. We saw the “tolerance” of gay activists, when Prop. 8 passed in California: De-facing Mormon church property, creating blacklists of Prop. 8 supporters, assaulting elderly people, even hurling racial slurs at black people (including black gays and lesbians) after learning that 70% of black voters supported the CA marriage amendment.

Add to that the veracious attack on Miss Prejean, with nary a peep from so-called women’s groups or feminists. Of course, their pitiful excuse is much like yours: Because you don’t like beauty pageants, those who participate in such can be viciously attacked without mercy.

Your view about being against gay “marriage” as being untenable is utterly ridiculous. Nowhere are we required to call homosexual relationships of any stripe “marriage”.

That Clinton is not nearly as far from the center or as contestable as W was.

Okay GWB is a neocon. A big government republican who passed the largest social program in 30 or 40 years. He is painted as right but he is as much center as was Clinton.

Sure thing. That’s why actual fascists like Hitler, Pinochet, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and Franco kill and torture the heck out of us all the time!

Your right. The witch hunt is soon to uncover the Democrats duplicity in the NSA wire taps and the “Torture” of terror suspects. They were actively cheering it on until they got caught.

That if you wrap anymore tinfoil around your head you will be unable to move.

You already prove that the left is totally intolerant of anyone who does not toe their line, obey their doctrine and adhere to the nationalist agenda. Calling me names or insinuating Im not on the same page is one form of intolerance. thank you for continuing to affirm my allegations rather then deny them.

I can’t imagine what kind of people continue to call the modeling poses of Carrie racy or nude for that matter. Do they own television sets?? Have they ever seen a commercial for Prel Shampoo or any other beauty products??? Have they ever seen the swimsuit portion of a beauty pageant or have they been to a beach in the last couple of decades. If they are not nude then she is not guilt of anything but the charade continues with many. To quote Jerry Seinfeld 30 YEARS AGO… “It’s not sex until the nipple makes its appearance”

The pageant director Shanna Moakler must surely know the difference after all there are pornographic images of her all over the internet. If you are not a minor and want to confirm this… google “shanna moakler nude photos”. Yet Miss Muchler was so shocked at Carrie’s poses. What a complete gay agenda driven hypocrite and queen of muckraking.

I was thrilled to hear that the cheap shoddy hypocrite has left the pageant. She is the last person on the planet to talk about morals.

I am (was) liberal that is not very religious and I had no opinion on gay marriage before this incident. But now I seeing the dirty hypocritical tactics that the gay movement have employed, all of the lobbying and gay websites that have sprung up I realize just how much they are warping our culture.

I think we need a symbol to appreciate those that bear and raise offspring. Those that have lives that are about more than an obsession with hedonistic sexuality. What marriage has stood for over the centuries? Something must bring back family values before our culture/race disappear. They say God is forgiving but Mother Nature is a B_____H

If you’re not interested in continuing your kind, nature will find a replacement. Have a look at how efficient evolution is:

“25 years ago, Vanessa Williams lost the Miss America crown over a similar, if substantially racier spread of pictures published in Penthouse magazine. Perhaps the times have changed.”

Actually, Williams didn’t lose the crown. She surrendered it, under tremendous pressure. “Substantially racier” is putting it midly. Williams wasn’t “semi-nude” or “topless”; she was BUTT-BOOTY NAKED!! But, that didn’t really cause the firestorm. The INTERACIAL LESBIAN SEX PICS, on the other hand……..

With that said, Williams could have fought this in court. Truth be told, by the time it ever got to court, her reign as Miss America would have been done, anyway.

I think Donald Trump is the guy who determines whether or not Prejean wronged him. Based on his statements on “Larry King Live” and “Fox & Friends”, she clearly did not. Trump indicated that Prejean committed no breach of her contract. As Prejean stated on ?Fox & Friends?, this is not a second chance for her, because she did nothing wrong, per her contract, from the start.

Personally, I don’t think Trump had any intention on stripping Prejean of the crown. He simply milked the controversy for all it was worth. As mentioned elsewhere, Moakler and Lewis had plans for a “Diversity” PSA to promote gay “marriage” in CA, in hopes of reversing the likely-to-stand Prop. 8 marriage amendment (why else would a gay judge from CA ask Miss CA about gay “marriage”, given that Prop. 8 was passed just six months ago?).

Promoting that “diversity” thing, while your current beauty queen is doing PSAs for the opposition (Focus on the Family, National Organization of Marriage, etc.), gets a bit difficult. That’s why Moalker is so steamed and why she quit, when the Donald declared that Carrie’s crown stays put.

People pointing alleged “moral” fingers and doing things against the church IS called hypocrisy.

I have no problem with Prejean doing pornography, and I have no problem with her practicing her religious views. These are things between her and her church, most churches would excommunicate anyone involved in pornography, and then lie about it twice.

The problem with this issue is that she’s going around preaching to us, American’s, that some thing is against her religious beliefs, but then has secrets that are most defiantly against the church. The bible teaches us that a woman should be fully covered, she shouldn’t be going around taking her clothing off for strangers.

That’s call hypocrisy. People for some reason dislike the word, so they go around attacking people claiming they they are hypocrites [I'm sure people will call me that for writing this comment, but that label doesn't fit].

I’m not going around telling other people what they can or can not do, and I’m definitely not going around causing harm to other peoples families of which I have no business doing. People need to keep their religion to themselves, and their inner circle because we all don’t believe in harming others, especially families that they may not like.

What Prejean does is her business, go for it, but don’t go around preaching to us how moral you think you are.

DO NO HARM! That’s all we need to know, don’t harm other people, what you do with yourself and your inner circle is YOUR business, but keep it to yourself!

    GIVE ME A BREAK!!

Prejean didn’t do any pornography. Vanessa Williams did porn; Moakler came about as close to pornography as you could get.

As for the “keep it to yourself” flap, Miss Prejean was asked a question. You can’t “keep it to yourself” when someone asks you a question. This issue boils down to one thing: An extremely gay judge asked a question, hoping to use the pageant as a informercial for gay “marriage”. He didn’t get the answer he wanted….the rest is history. Bottom line: Don’t ask the question, unless you REALLY want to know the answer.

If people follow your silly advice and “keep their religion to themselves”, you can kiss most of your humantarian programs goodbye. Most of them are religiously-affiliated and do such awful things as feed the hungry, clothed the naked (including Miss Moakler), help heal the sick, etc.

Then, there’s our civil society, namely our police who wouldn’t be able to arrest thieves. After all, they wouldn’t be able to enforce laws, based on that pesky commandment, “Thou shalt not steal”. Or kids would be allowed to be brats, because we can’t follow that “Honor your father and mother” deal.

Back to Prejean, she isn’t preaching to anyone. If Perez Hilton hadn’t opened his big mouth, we wouldn’t even be talking about this.

You want to talk “hypocrisy”. Start with a group that whines about “tolerance” but shows absolutely NONE of that, when people don’t agree with their view on an issue (i.e. many gay activists and supporters on the left; recall how much they acted a fool, when CA voters passed Prop. 8).

Continue with, blubbering about yanking Prejean’s crown for her “nude” pictures, meanwhile, the director of the pageant driving this train has stripped BUTT-BOOTY NAKED for Playboy.

Add a pinch of the deafening silence of the so-called feminist women’s groups, that supposedly stand for women’s rights and dignity, allowing their buddies to call Ms. Prejean every nasty thing in the book (because beauty paegants ain’t their thing), not to mention the harrassment done to her family.

So much for the “DO NO HARM” mess.

Please make this all stop. This once was a “simple” issue of a beauty contestant being asked her personal opinion, giving it and then being excoriated because it was the “wrong answer”. Now that’s a nice, simple discussion. Now the beauty queen has become a spokesperson for the Christian Right (I think?) in spite of past behavior that in any other Christian discussion would be considered an example of our sagging public morality. Her key critic, the gay blogger judge has gotten more attention and much more traffic to his blog. And now the California beauty pageant director, who was morally outraged by the answer and the lying (on the application) has resigned because the contestant didn’t reveal that she had been photographed in lurid ways, just as the director had.

Finally the retention of her crown was decided by a multiple divorced man who now seemingly survives on a “pseudo-business” reality show.

OH PLEASE MAKE IT ALL STOP

From what I know, Trump is fairly socially liberal, as is apparently some of his organization. And he’s the boss of Miss USA, so there you have it.

Might be a different story if he were more socially conservative.
