The problem with letting NK collapse is that currently Kim Jong Il has an iron tight grip on the country.

The country completely collapsing creates issues. China, for example. Won't they just go in and try and establish a government?

Also, I hear a lot of people saying that the West is going back to North Korea. Trouble is, nobody seems to want to even consider that option. Even George W. Bush didn't indicate a willingness to go there. And China is probably why.

What is North Korea trying to do here? Is this just a tactic to get people throughout the world squirming in their seats? Also, why would North Korea ever give up its nuclear weapons? U.S. and other countries are wasting their time if that's the main objective. What country leaders would be dumb enough to give up the only toy that makes North Korea a threat to the world? According to Newsy.com "The North’s official Korean Central News Agency emphasized the tests were intended to ensure the country’s 'peace and security.'" Getting the international community to turn against you is not a way to ensure PEACE or SECURITY.
