Palin Lashes Out At Kerry – Why the Long Face John?
Earlier this week Senator John Kerry made a fantastisch – ahem – joke about Governor Sarah Palin. When talking about Governor Sanford, who went on a secret trip to Argentina to meet the woman he had an extramarital affair with, Kerry said that he wished that not Sanford, but “that governor from Alaska” would’ve disappeared. Palin, in other words. Nice joke, huh? I wonder what leftist bloggers would’ve said if, say, Limbaugh would’ve said this about Obama.
In any case, when Palin addressed American troops in Kosovo earlier today, she responded in kind:
“He looked quite frustrated and he looked so sad,” she said. “I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say ‘John Kerry, why the long face?’,” she concluded.
And that’s why so many conservatives love Sarah Palin. She doesn’t get angry when someone insults her. Now, she’s calm; a lady. She uses humor to strike back. She’s not easily impressed by other people, and especially not by Democrats. She’s a fighter, but a pleasant and sympathetic one.
Finally, she has another major strength: she is slowly but surely becoming a terrific communicator. If she keeps this up, she could very well be one of the true top contenders in 2012, and rightly so. I believed she was not right for the vice presidency last year, let alone for the big prize, but she if she continues to improve herself, travel, educate herself, etc. she could pose a very real threat to Obama three and a half years from now.

Is this satire?
A poll was released yesterday which showed Palin is now 45/45 approval rate nationally. Up significantly as the cracks in Obama start to appear.
Additionally the Republicans view her favorably by a whopping 76-14 percent.
So the fact that the democrats continue to take shots at her is not any different then the GOP taking shots at Hillary for years knowing she was going to run for the White House. Just as the GOP was afraid of Hillary so too now it appears that the Democrats are fearful of Palin and they just cant help themselves.
It seems like the Dems can’t help themselves. It plays to the base but doesn’t get anywhere beyond that. If the Dems want to hurt Gov. Palin they would ignore her.
Kerry ought to know better that playing to the base is a great red meat rallying strategy, but a poor coalition building one.
The joke was at best in poor taste.
When a dullard tries to zing a quick witted person. The dullard always loses.
This is why Governor Palin is such a pleasure after all these sturm and drang Washingtonites who are so busy trampling the Constitution and creating artificial panic in the name of destroying the economy.
This distorts the circumstances of Kerry’s comment. The comment was made before it was known that he was having an affair – at a time his wife and staff were unconcerned and saying he had sought privacy to write or was hiking the Appalachian Trail. The joke – or rather comment – was made in an informal meeting with MA Democrats who were local officials or business leaders visiting their Senator in DC. It was an innocuous comment that many tired of Gov Palin would have said.
To state this is equivalent to saying this of Obama is wrong. The equivalent would have been for a Republican to have said that of John Kerry in 2005. Many did whenever he spoke out – and asking him to get out of the public eye was one of the nicer things they said. (This inflates Palin as Kerry was the elected nominee of his party and Palin was the VP candidate chosen by McCain.)
A bigger problem is that Palin chose to air a partisan issue in front of troops overseas. Had a Democrat done that, you would have been screaming about it. Before you say otherwise – Kerry has often visited with troops on trips to Afghanistan and Iraq – though he goes without a camera crew. He also had a hearing of the SFRC where a few soldiers who served in Afghanistan gave their insight into what has worked and ideas of what would help.
She just doesn’t have it! if the republicans want to come back they have to find someone capable. I’d love to have serious contenders on both sides so that both parties are striving for the best. Sarah Palin is flippant, self serving and not very up to snuff with life outside of the great state of Alaska.
