Hope and Change Ain’t Good Enough

This is one heck of a column by Colleen O’Connor:
He talked honestly to the American people. He didn’t “tell them a story,” serve up “hope” or feed them untenable promises for “change.”
You can’t eat “hope” and “change” doesn’t pay the rent.
In a crisis, it is the job of every President to act decisively, lest he or she look weak. It is the task of the “loyal opposition” to look for weaknesses and address them.
The current $787 billion stimulus bill is not working. Even Nobel Prize-winning, New York Times columnist, and Obama supporter, Paul Krugman agrees.
The President and his team refuse to see it, and they ignore even reasonable suggestions for improvement.
Yeah baby, yeah.
Gimme more.
Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) recently made such a suggestion.
“Stop the stimulus,” he says. “It’s not working.”
Use the unspent monies to create jobs immediately. Not in 2010 or 2012, but now.
The current Administration’s response was to send a letter to Jan Brewer, the Republican Governor, threatening to cut off Arizona’s stimulus funds!
Specifically, the letter said, “If you prefer to forfeit the money we are making available to your state, as Senator Kyl suggests, please let me know.”
This “childishness,” as Kyle rightly calls the veiled threats, on Fox’s On the Record, were orchestrated by the President’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel.
Hardly the bipartisanship that candidate Obama promised.
In other words, all the proposed projects, lofty announcements, and expensive bailouts have not stopped the job losses, let alone created enough new ones. However, the White House refuses to reassess its plan, and instead threatens its critics.
Obama and Emanuel have shown their true colors. They are not pragmatist, nor inclined and willing to compromise. They care about one thing only: carrying out their ideological fantasies, whether they serve America or not.
It’s interesting that Obama always tells everybody else to engage in “serious self-reflection.” If there’s one person in desperate need of it, it’s him.

” Even Nobel Prize-winning, New York Times columnist, and Obama supporter, Paul Krugman agrees.”
He thinks it was too small and too spread out. He’s also a supporter of a second stimulus and the Waxman-Markey bill. Do you still want more, baby?
Be careful on who you lavish authority on, Colleen.
course you aren’t disagreeing with the general premise Garland.
The Stimulus was a waste of American tax dollars.
So yeah – I want more.
“course you aren’t disagreeing with the general premise Garland.
The Stimulus was a waste of American tax dollars.”
The reason Krugman (who is persona non grata most of the time for his unapologetically progressive outlook, unless he says that one of Obama’s plans is not working) gives for the lack of results from the stimulus is because it wasn’t bigger. He wants a second one to avoid inflation. So, what, can we now just take out his statement on the stimulus not working from even the context of his own mind?
Also, simply to remind the demagogues: It would be more accurate to say that one-tenth of the stimulus isn’t working.
Simply as the post indicates, news indicates, studies have indicated
it’s not working.

Its the Obama Thuggery. Its these same tactics that got the Democrats screaming and howling about things that happened during the Bush Years. All presidents do it.
Its called Arm twisting to get the people to toe the line.
However.
Whats wrong with this arm twisting is that its not some random act of coercing someone to support a bill or to get in line politically.
No.
Its a threat to cut off economic aid to people in Arizona because of something said by a Republican senator in DC. Many of those people would be democrats. Independents and not affiliated at all.
Obama’s team continues to show that they know how to campaign but lack serious ability to LEAD.
threat to cut off economic aid to people in a moderately conservative state. – what a surprise.
