Obama insults police, forced to retreat

July 25th, 2009 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags: , , , , ,

obamaEarlier this week, black Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. lost his keys, after which he tried to force his way back into his house. A concerned neighbor saw ‘a man’ trying to break into Gates’ house and called the police.

Officer James Crowley arrived at the scene shortly after. He asked Gates what he was doing and why he was trying to get into the (expensive) home. Gates, being the stereotypical example of the arrogant Haaaavard professor, immediately declared war on Crowley, refused to cooperate and answer any questions, and proceeded to label the police officer who clearly acted in good faith a “racist.”

Crowley tried to calm Gates down, eye witnesses say, but to no avail. The professor’s anger only grew. Finally, having had enough, Crowley arrested Gates.

Being the out of touch man he is, Gates then went publicly. Crowley was nothing but a racist, he said, and his arrest was the result of racial stereotyping.

The police officer who did nothing more or less than his duty was forced to respond publicly to defend himself against Gates’ ludicrous accusations.

Eventually the two men got together, listened to the other’s side of the story, and seemed ready to strike a deal…

Until the 44th president of the United States stepped in.

When asked about Gatesgate by curious journalists, Obama responded by saying he did not have enough knowledge of the affair to comment on it. That was, of course, the right reaction. “I don’t know enough about this to comment on it, so I’ll wait the investigation has finished.” That’s all he had to say.

Sadly for the amateur presently occupying the White House, that’s not where he stopped. He continued, seemingly unable to control his natural tendency to defend a fellow black intellectual playing the race card. Officer Crowley, Obama said, clearly acted “stupidly” and should never have arrested Gates.

Pardon me? Stupid? First he says he doesn’t know the whole story, next he insults a police officer who risks his life on a daily basis to keep Americans safe.

It’s typical for the left: minorities crying foul are always defended, even when they’re wrong.

Of course, journalists and bloggers alike were thrilled Obama committed this gaffe. They jumped on the story, thereby once again pushing it to the frontpages. Especially conservative bloggers, commentators, and networks argued Obama insulted not just Crowley but the entire Cambridge police department, and demanded an apology.

Obama refused. He was right (even though he did not know what happened). Kinda. Sorta.

Until yesterday, that is. It became clear Friday that most Americans agreed with conservatives’ take on the matter. So what did Obama do? Right, he showed weakness by distancing himself from his earlier statement saying he never intended to insult Crowley or his department.

Nonsense, of course. You can’t say someone acted stupidly and defend yourself with a straight face by saying you meant to insult nobody. He did meant to insult, and he succeeded. He only ‘retracted’ his statement because he realized voters disagreed with his take on the matter.

Amazingly, after retracting his earlier statement, Obama added that he still believed officer Crowley “overreacted.” How do you know Mr. President? Were you there? Did you talk to witnesses? Did you wait until the investigation was finished?

No, no, and no.

In the meantime Gates continues to accuse officer Crowley of racism, this time with support from the president.

Sadly for Obama and his buddy Gates, an African-American officer who does know what happened says Crowley was right to arrest the Harvard professor. Not Crowley but Gates acted “strange,” officer Leon Lashley says. The police union also weighed in saying they expect an apology from Mr. Obama for indirectly insulting every policy officer in America.

And so Obama once again proves he wasn’t and isn’t ready for the presidency. He should’ve waited a few years before running for president. He should bided his time, gained and experience, and learn the valuable lessons an individual has to learn before assuming the presidency.

One of the lessons he should’ve learned by now is that a president shouldn’t comment on every big news story out there. Sometimes he should just tell journalists it’s none of his (and their) business.

Not Obama, no sir, not him. He realizes a fellow African American intellectual is arrested and automatically assumes the worse: the police officer has to be a racist. As usual, irony seems to be lost on him, Professor Gates and their supporters; it’s clear that they not officer Crowley are the real racists in this story.

Amateur hour continues. We can be sure that his approval ratings will drop even further. That’s good news for his critics, but a bit sad for those whose lives and careers are destroyed or at least severely damaged by his anti-white prejudices and rank amateurism.

if the situation were reversed, and a White President said Black police officers acted stupidly arresting a white man.

Imagine the riots we would be experiencing.

‘It’s typical for the left: minorities crying foul are always defended, even when they’re wrong.”

Right, and even if Officer Crowley was found to be out of line and didn’t play by the book, somhow it would *HAVE TO BE 110%* racially moticated, not just an error or a mistake, or just horribly bad judgement that was made. I’m dissapointed that the knee jerk limo-liberals running my country, and my state (Massachusetts) keep beating their heads agains a wall like this, it makes them look rediculous.

Lets try reason, cool heads, rational thought and discourse.

I can’t wait to hear the tapes of Gates throwing a hissy :) . Something tells me that Obama found out all this was on tape and that is what nudged him to present his after-the-fact non-apology.

and the other “nudges”: Leon Lashley (the black Officer there with Crowley) said Crowley acted properly, and that Gates was acting improperly. And the fact that Crowley has (for 5 years) and does currently teach racial profiling classes at the Police Academy. Yeah, probably a racist.

Guess our great miss-communicator just needs a teleprompter to follow him 24 7

But he has learned on several occasions that spur-of-the-moment remarks can come back to bite him. A joke about Nancy Reagan’s holding séances required him to call her to apologize. (She told Vanity Fair that he said he was actually thinking of Hillary Rodham Clinton.) He had to make another apology after joking that his bad bowling skills qualified him for the Special Olympics.

When Mr. Obama was outraged by hefty bonuses paid to executives at firms receiving federal bailouts, he scolded them not only for that but for flying to, say, Las Vegas for fancy conferences — unwittingly causing a raft of cancellations in that city even by conferees not receiving taxpayer money. To remedy the situation, his senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, arranged for him to meet with hospitality industry leaders.

For those of who are on the left and are against the administration of Obama either because he is black of because he a democrat, one thing is important for all Americans to know is that the country belongs to you, you can build it or destroy it.Obama is a human being capable of making mistake and to help him you must correct him in love.

We tried to correct him in Love and he rebelled. Lets face the facts, we voted in a President who is very intelligent but is incapable of making “Common Sense Decisions” or who knows when to “Zip it!” Mistakes like this will only lead us into a “Racial War!” I hope our President learned something from this “Mistake”
